“Camino Real” Rises Again

The Williamstown Theatre Festival revives Tennessee Williams’ classic Camino Real this summer (July 17–August 3), directed by Dustin Wills and starring Pamela Anderson. Part of WTF’s bold new season of world-class theater in the Berkshires.

Recognize that actor? In 1999, a 29-year-old Ethan Hawke commanded the Williamstown Theatre Festival stage as Kilroy, the disillusioned soldier at the center of Tennessee Williams’s Camino Real. This timeless work returns to the WTF mainstage for three consecutive weekends, July 17–August 3, directed by Obie Award winner Dustin Wills and featuring Pamela Anderson as Marguerite, one of the residents of the dreamlike, Spanish-speaking town of the title. Camino Real is part of WTF’s bold reimagining of the season—other highlights include a world-premiere play by Jeremy O. Harris and a work staged on an ice rink. wtfestival.org
